Kathryn Malý

As a certified mediator and educator, I feel privileged to help people take risks, navigate transitions and create change in their lives.

During the pandemic, I shifted the focus of my work to helping my community address the affordable housing crisis. I currently volunteer with Habitat for Humanity and the Housing Solutions Network. I believe that the housing trust / community land trust (CLT) model offers great promise in creating permanently affordable housing for people working in our local economy. I am grateful that both the Olympic Housing Trust and Habitat for Humanity are working on building homes in our community using the housing trust model.

I have mediated over 125 cases since 2012 and have over 400 hours of training in community, family, elder, and social justice mediation. I am a certified mediator through the Washington Mediation Association (WMA). Visit my mediation page to learn more about the types of cases I have mediated and settings in which I have worked.

As a K-8 educator, I taught for 12 years in public and private schools. Most of my teaching was in grades 3-6 at Salmon Bay K-8, an alternative Seattle Public School, where I led inclusive, multi-age classrooms.

I have served as an elementary math specialist, a middle school reading specialist, and a "drop in and dance" founder and leader. I earned a Masters in Human Development and am dual certified: K-8 elementary education and K-12 special education.

Coaching and Consulting
I completed 90-hours with the Coach Training Institute in Vancouver and San Francisco and use my coaching skills when working with educators and mediation clients.

Project Management
Prior to teaching, I was a writer, editor and project manager at a health and wellness communications company
